Just barely behind California and New York, Louisiana has been labelled the third largest film industry in the country. Shreveport has had a large number of films made right here in the city! Some of the filming facilities that are used in Shreveport include sound stages, the Louisiana Wave Studio, the State Fair of Louisiana Fairgrounds Complex, and a computer-controlled outdoor wave pool. Some of the movies created here include: The Guardian (featuring Ashton Kutcher and Kevin Costner), Factory Girl (Sienna Miller and Guy Pierce), and The Mist (Thomas Jane, Toby Jones and Marica Gray Harden).

Aside from the filming industry, Shreveport was once a major contributor to the U.S.A oil business. However, today the city has transformed itself into a service economy. Shreveport has grown dramatically in the gaming industry by hosting a variety of casinos: Sam's Town Casino, Horseshoe Casino, Eldorado Casino, Boomtown Casino, and Diamond Jacks Casino. The Shreveport-Bossier Convention & Tourist Bureau maintains a large database of restaurants, attractions and hotel accommodations.

For those that enjoy spending money in a different way, you may find yourself strutting down the Louisiana Boardwalk: a 550,000 square foot shopping and entertainment complex that features outlet shopping, a large number of restaurants, a bowling complex, a 14-screen movie theatre and much, much more! Recently there was a new 350,000 square-foot convention center that was placed in downtown. It includes an 800-space parking garage and an adjoining 12-story Hilton Hotel for your convenience.

Shreveport also has a major medicinal center called the Louisiana State University Health Sciences Centre Shreveport that maintains expanded facilities that were once used by the former Confederate Memorial Medical Center. Some of the major hospitals include Christus Schumpert, Willis Knighton, and Shriners Hospital for Children.

There are also many new jobs in the natural gas industry, and the locals sign mineral right leases for nearly $25,000.

There is always something for you here in Shreveport! Whether you are looking for a fun trip with friends, or if you are thinking that it is time to settle down with a steady job, you'll find everything you need in Shreveport, Louisiana.
